Hi everyone,
Today I want to talk about something that touches so many of us, in one way or another: anxiety.
It’s not a bad word, even though it can feel like one. Most people who live with anxiety try to hide it, often feeling embarrassed or ashamed. But I want to say this clearly—you don’t need to be ashamed. I live with anxiety too, and yes, I admit it freely. Panic attacks and all.
And here’s the thing: if you’re an empath or someone with intuitive abilities, chances are you’ve felt it too. Anxiety has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I often heard things like, “You’re just too sensitive,” or “You’re just nervous, calm down.” Did that help? Absolutely not. If anything, it made me feel worse about what I was experiencing.
So where does anxiety come from? Well, it can have many roots. For some, it stems from trauma. For others, it’s tied to fear, stress, or even certain life circumstances. But today, I want to focus on something very specific: empath anxiety.
Yes, that’s a real thing. Empath anxiety happens when you’re someone who deeply feels the emotions (and sometimes even the physical pain) of others. If the people around you are struggling with anxiety, you might actually absorb it into your own energy field. And let me tell you, this is more common than most people realize.
So why does it happen? And more importantly, what can we do about it?
It all comes down to energy. We are energetic beings, and each of us has an energy field and energy centers—what you may know as chakras. You have seven main chakras, running from the base of your spine to the crown above your head:
Chakra | Color | Function | Location |
Root | Red | Grounding, Stability, Phsyical Identity | Base of Spine |
Sacral Sacra | Orange | Pleasure, Creativity, Sexuality | Just below the naval |
Solar Plexis | Yellow | Self-esteem, Confidence | Upper Abdomen |
Heart Chakra | Green | Love, compassion | Center of the chest |
Throat Chakra | Blue | Communication | Throat |
Third Eye | Indigo | Intuition, Imagination | Forehead, between the eyes |
Crown Chakra | Purple | Awareness, intellect | A couple inches above the head |

Now here’s the key: your chakras don’t need to be wide open all the time. When they are too open, your energy field stretches out and you become like a sponge—picking up on everyone else’s emotions and energy. That’s when empath anxiety creeps in.
To protect yourself, it’s important to keep your energy centers pulled in unless you’re purposefully opening them (like during a reading or in a positive, safe space).
So what can you do to keep that balance? Here are a few tools that can really help:
✨ Meditation – This doesn’t have to mean sitting still for an hour. It can be simple breathing, a short guided meditation, or even a walk in nature. Anything that centers and calms you.
✨ Crystals – Carrying protective stones like black tourmaline or obsidian can help shield your energy. For calming and balance, try amethyst or sodalite.
✨ Mirrors – Visualize mirrors facing outward around your energy field, reflecting other people’s energy back to them. Some people also wear jewelry with mirror symbolism for this.
✨ Angels – Invite your angels to help. Archangel Raphael brings healing energy (his green light is powerful for anxiety), while Archangel Michael is a warrior of protection, wrapping you in blue light.
✨ Guides – Your spirit guides are always ready to support you. You can call on them specifically to help ease your anxiety and protect your energy.
✨ Prayer & Intention – However you connect—whether it’s with God, Source, Buddha, or your Higher Power—set the tone for your day. A simple morning prayer or intention for protection, peace, and strength goes a long way.
✨ Energy Grids – You can create a protective crystal grid in your home with the intention of shielding your space from negative or draining energy.
The more you actively protect your energy, the less likely you’ll be weighed down by the stress and emotions of others. It doesn’t mean anxiety disappears overnight—but it does mean you can stand stronger in your own energy, without carrying what isn’t yours.
I hope this brings you some comfort and a few tools to lean on. Remember, you don’t have to “just deal with it” or feel ashamed of it. Your sensitivity is a gift—it just needs care and protection.
